School Board Names New Principal at Mt. Carmel Elementary

Tracey Seymour, who replaces John McGill, will begin her new role next school year.

The Douglas County Board of Education named Tracey Seymour as principal at Mt. Carmel Elementary School this week, officially replacing the former principal who was caught in a child-sex sting earlier this year.

Seymour was appointed on April 21, the school system said in a Friday press release. She will assume duties at the beginning of the 2014-15 school year. She is currently the assistant principal at North Douglas Elementary, and has served in those same positions at Mt. Carmel, Winston and Burnett elementary schools, and at Douglas County High.

“I am happy to be "going home" and look forward to working with Mt. Carmel's wonderful staff, students, and parents! I admire their high standards for students and look forward to rejoining the team,” Seymour said in the press release.
