Douglas School Board Names Interim Principal at Mt. Carmel Elementary

Dr. Sandra Williams will replace John McGill, who is suspended in light of child sex charges against him.

The Douglas County School Board named an interim replacement for John McGill, the Mt. Carmel Elementary School principal who has been charged with child sex offenses.

The school board picked retired Douglas County administrator Dr. Sandra Williams as the interim principal. She is expected to start Monday, March 10.

At tonight’s Board of Education meeting (March 3) Dr. Sandra Williams, retired Douglas County administrator, was named interim principal of Mt. Carmel Elementary School. She will report to work on or before Monday, March 10.

Dr. Williams retired from Mt. Carmel Elementary School in 2007 after serving as principal for 5 years. She was principal at Burnett Elementary School for 11 years, 1991-2002. A veteran educator, Dr. Williams taught for a total of 16 years at numerous schools including Burnett Elementary, Stewart Middle, Beulah Elementary and schools in Tift and Cobb Counties.

 

She was appointed interim principal following the suspension of Dr. John McGill. Central Office staff will continue to provide full administrative coverage until Dr. Williams reports to work.
