Public Trains and Quality of life
Improvements in Quality of Life if we could take trains from Douglasville into Downtown Atlanta
After my last post about I started thinking about other forms of transportation and how much I like trains. When my wife used to work downtown she used the Bus that leaves each morning from the Bus Center off Hospital Drive. She has also used the various Van services. Those were OK, especially the bus but the areas it stopped at were limited. I'm here to advocate for train service from Charlotte through downtown Atlanta all the way to Tampa.
The title of my post mentions quality of life. I know my quality of life would improve if we had train service from Douglasville to Charlotte, NC, Downtown Atlanta, and Tampa Florida. I love living in Douglasville, but one of the things I don't love is my commute each morning and evening into Atlanta. If I could drive to a train stop in Douglasville park my car and ride in relative comfort to the train stop close to my job, my stress level and the stress level of my car would go down tremendously.
I'm sure you have all noticed that even though you are sitting down and have minimal movement while you are driving, you will still be tired after a bad drive into Atlanta. I think A lot of people in Douglsaville don't want Marta bus service, and I'm with you on that. I have no desrie to ride a Marta Bus into Atlanta, but if I would love to ride a train and have the option of stopping at all the Marta Train Stations down town. I know that even seeing the name Marta will trigger an immediate negative reaction for a lot of you, but please think about the quality of life improvements train services, not but service, from Douglasville into downtown Atlanta would have for a lot of Douglasville residents. You'll note that I listed Charlotte and Tampa in my list of stops for the train. That's purely my quality of life. We have offices in both of those cities that I have to visit them more than a few times each year. Hey, It's my blog so I can be as selfish as I want.
