What Time is Douglasville's Fourth of July Parade, Fireworks?

Fourth of July is just around the corner. There'll be plenty to do in Douglasville.

From City of Douglasville

Although July 4th is not all about a parade and fireworks, these traditional events are among the highlights of the City of Douglasville’s annual 4th of July celebration. On Friday, July 4, a parade will kick off the day’s festivities starting at 10 a.m. in downtown Douglasville—rain or shine. The parade will route from the corner of Church Street and Fairburn Road and end at Selman Drive.

As the city gears up for its traditional Independence Day festivities, special projects coordinator Josie Whited is on the lookout for enthusiastic participates to join in the city’s parade.

“We’re calling for all entries, from marching bands, dancers, patriotic floats, vehicles, walkers, and even animals,” said Whited. “Don’t forget to wear your red, white, and blue, and please remember to do safety checks on floats and other entries.”

Parade participants are encouraged to incorporate the event theme “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” in their entry. Trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third place for theme, design, presentation, and originality. Parade entry forms can be received online at www.douglasvillega.gov or by e-mailing whitedj@douglasvillega.gov. There is a fee of $25 per space to participate; deadline to register is noon, Thursday, July 3.

The parade will be followed by the annual S.H.A.R.E House Festival in the Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.at Hunter Park. Attendees can enjoy an afternoon of family fun, including games, barbecue, live entertainment, vendors, and the Douglasville Idol talent contest. Vendor information is available by calling 678-449-3166. Festival proceeds benefit S.H.A.R.E House, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides emergency shelter and services to victims of domestic violence. The city’s July 4th celebration will go out with a bang, as fireworks light up the night. The fireworks display, sponsored by GreyStone Power Corporation and Gas South, will begin at dark. Best viewing sites include the north-side parking lot at Arbor Place Mall and surrounding areas. “We want to thank GreyStone and Gas South for stepping up once again as major sponsors for the fireworks display. With their support, we are able to continue this family-fun tradition in Douglasville,” said Mayor Harvey Persons.
