$10,000 Reward Offered in Douglasville Homicide

A week ago today, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Wheeler found his 66-year-old father stabbed to death in the family's Chattahoochee Drive home.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the murder of Jerry Wheeler, the operator of Lee Road Auto Service and the father of Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Wheeler.

A week ago today, the son found his 66-year-old father stabbed to death in the family's Chattahoochee Drive home, Douglas County Chief Deputy Stan Copeland told the Douglas County Sentinel and WSB-TV.

It was the first homicide in Douglas County this year, according to the Sentinel.

"Mr. Wheeler was a long time resident of Douglas County as well as a business owner," according to poster on the official Facebook page of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "He has been described by all as a genuinely nice man."
