ReplyWhat dismal numbers. Even Lassiter is below 90%. You would think that with the invention of the internet and all of the new ways to research things the kids would be smarter. These numbers are downright scary.

Okay. By the way, does everybody notice the "reply" button at the bottom of everybody's comments? If you are replying to a certain comment, please hit the "reply" so that I don't have to scroll back through all of the comments to find the comment you are replying to. Just a suggestion.

ReplyWhy do they have graduations outside the schools? We had over 300 seniors graduating from Osborne in 1971 and we did it in the auditorium. It seems like some of the high schools are building "fabulous" additions. Why not use them?

" If you can't say something nice then Don't say anything at all." Well, we have the internet now. All kinds of ways to be not nice.

On the article Should Atheist Literature Join Bibles in State Park Cabins?
Pam J

ReplyThe Bibles were left by private citizens. They are private property. All cabins and hotel/motel rooms should be controversy-free zones. I left a pair of shoes in a hotel room once and the hotel called me and since I didn't really like the shoes, I told them to just throw them away. Things have changed a lot over the decades. It was commonplace to see Bibles in nightstands. But since everybody feels free to tout their beliefs or non-beliefs, anything that will promote one thing should be removed. I am a Christian, but I can see the atheists point of view too. Unfortunately a lot of other Christians are so hard core that they can't accept any other way of thinking. It's a personal thing, religion. and it should be kept that way.

ReplyRegardless of whether this guy was under the influence of medicine, why on earth are people leaving their car doors unlocked? If you don't have anything in it I can understand that you just don't want the windows broken if somebody wants to rummage around. But look at everything that was taken out of those cars. Debit cards, cameras, computers and cash. Of course some "enterprising" person is going to see a free payday. It's not right to steal, but it's also just stupid to leave things of value in your car for any length of time.

ReplyJust ignore them. Anybody that praises tornadoes has a few screws loose. Quit giving them attention.

On the article Atheists Plan to Send Books to Georgia State Parks

ReplyOnce again, the state did not provide the Bibles. They allowed outside groups to put them in the cabins, just like hotels do. I am a Christian, but I honestly believe that if you leave a personal item in a cabin or hotel room, it should be removed and either sent back to the owner or dealt with some other way. I choose not to push my religious beliefs on anybody else and I appreciate other people not pushing theirs on me. State-owned cabins and hotels should be controversy-free zones. Things ain't like they used to be decades ago.

I'm sure there are good kids that go to Osborne, but where are they? I graduated from Osborne in 1971 and it is discouraging to see what it has become. But Jack is right, it's up to the parents to teach their children discipline and integrity. A teacher should not have to worry about their lives when they go to work.
