I was born in El Salvador and raised in Costa Rica. I came to the US to receive an education, but I decided to stay. My first trip to the U.S. as a student was in the school year of 1983-1984, when I attended Douglas County High School as an exchange student. I received my second high school diploma from DC because in Costa Rica we graduate after the 11th grade. Yes, I graduated twice. I then received my bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in education from the University of West Georgia.

I live in Carrollton with my wife Gail and my three children, Cruz (13), Chynna (17), and Chance (23). Cruz and Chynna attend Carrollton City Schools and Chance graduated from Valdosta State.

I hold a United States Soccer Federation B License and I took over the men's soccer team at Alexander in 2013. Previously, I had been the head soccer coach (1993-1997), but resigned to spend more time with my family and continue my education. I came back as an assistant in 2006. My record as the head coach between 1993-1997 was 44-19-1. In 2013 the team finished with a 13-5 record and an elite 8 appearance. My overall record is 62-32-3.
