ReplyJulie Camp I know about plea deals and they should never be a "deal" of any kind in a case like this. I have even heard of murder trails ending in a plea deal and the murderer receiving maybe 20 years. I do not believe in them except maybe in extreme cases. Otherwise the law should be followed because when it is not it continues to weaken the judical system. I'm sick and tired of criminals getting away with crimes and especially through "plea DEALS". This is my opinion of course.

You are right you are entiled to your opinion the same as I am. I stand by mine.You however seem to be making excuses for Thompson for his "mistakes". He was a smug person with his power and got caught with his pants down and was punished. You are also right that DC is filled with crooked politicans who have not come to judgement yet , but hopefully they will someday soon. When they do I will think the same way about them and I hope they also receive their just rewards.
Yes Thompson did run for office again BEFORE charges were brought against him but thank goodness he lost. I am speaking from a strictly non personal view of things
obviously you are not. Be my guest and continue to support him but me and mine will not. -

ReplyLisa what a wonderful story!! Thank you! Some people ,years ago, thought all there was to LS was the main red light on Bankhead Hwy. Now they know different. I remember Mrs James of LS once tried to revive the springs I didn't read anything about that in your article. Maybe you could check into it sometime for a Part 2. Thanks again really enjoyed it!

I am appauled that you think that Thompson should be allowed to hold public office again. He has committed crimes against the citizens of Douglasville and the law that can also effect the county. Your way of thinking reminds me of the Kennedy clan. I learned in school and from my parents many years ago that to hold a government office should be an honor but I reckon not. I think people have forgotten what "honor" means haven't they. You know the saying charity begins at home well maybe it should be said for honor also then we wouldn't have so many crooked politicans in Washington. Shame on you Janice Goad!!!

ReplyWhile I have never lived within the city limits only in the county for 53 yrs, I think he got exactly what I expected. Had it been a "common" person being charged with 90 +crimes they would have been put under that new fancy jail that taxpayers are funding. What a shame! And to Janice Goad......arrogance is no excuse for breaking the law, Thompson knew exactly what he was doing.
