Community Spotlight: Mardi Gras 5K Run [VIDEO]

Want to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Northwest Atlanta area? Enjoy festive food, music and family fun at Saturday's Marietta Mardi Gras 5K Run.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features the 4th Annual Marietta Mardi Gras 5K Run on the Marietta Square. The event benefits the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta and it's community partners. The 5K run will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., with the 1K beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the Tot-Trot at 9 a.m. For the third year, the Junior League is teaming up with Shoes for the Cure for a shoe drive. All shoe donations are welcome - not just running shoes. There will be bins for drop-off available. Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for Tot-Trot. Weekend Spotlight: A Home for the Holidays

Help save the lives of shelter animals, meet Santa, and enjoy music and a car show at the Sunday event.

This week's Douglas, Cobb and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features A Home for the Holidays in Paulding County. This event helps save the lives of homeless animals at the Dallas Animal Shelter. There will be a food drive to benefit shelter pets, Christmas goodies, crafts, a car show, and face painting. The event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Tractor Supply Store located at 115 Greystone Power Blvd in Dallas. Got a great event coming up in your community? Head to the North Cobb area tonight for Santa's Arrival, and get an opportunity to write letters to service members overseas.

This week's Douglas, Cobb and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features Santa's Arrival in Acworth. The streets of Historic Downtown Acworth are expected to be filled with thousands of people Friday night for Santa's Arrival, a tradition in the community for more than 10 years. Santa will arrive in a military vehicle this year, giving the children an opportunity to write letters to soldiers serving our country overseas. Weekend Spotlight: Holiday Homes Tour [VIDEO]

Get ideas on holiday decorating by taking the Smyrna-Vinings Holiday Homes Tour this weekend.

This week's Douglas, Cobb and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features the Homes for the Holidays Tour presented by The Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna. The event will be held noon-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. Weekend Spotlight: Santa Arrives in Cobb [VIDEO]

Get ready for Santa's first stop in Cobb County at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw.

This week's Douglas, Cobb and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features Santa's Arrival at Town Center at Cobb. Santa Claus makes his first stop of the season Friday evening in Kennesaw. Festivities take place from 6-8 p.m. in Center Court and include entertainment by Radio Disney, face painting, holiday activities and more. St. Nick will be escorted to his holiday home with live reindeer at 7 p.m. outside the Food Court Main Entrance. Plus, the first 200 children visiting Santa that evening will receive a special gift (no purchase necessary), and all guests will receive festive giveaways (while supplies last) throughout the event. This week's Patch Weekend Spotlight video features Marietta Zombie Walk.  The event takes place this Saturday in Marietta Square, and benefits MUST Ministries. The Infestation (gathering) starts at 5 p.m. in Glover Park and the Feeding (Zombie Walk) starts at 6 p.m. Carnival of Doom, in association with Marietta.com, The Strand, Zenith Design Group and Johnnie MacCracken’s Celtic Pub are sponsoring the event.
