Air Force Vet Max Ryland Hill, 74, Dies

Max Ryland Hill, 74 of Winston, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1. He was born Feb. 21, 1938 in Commerce, GA., the son of the late Charlie Y. Hill and the late Beulah Mae Watson Hill. He served in the United States Air Force for four years as an Airman 1st Class and one year in Korea, receiving the good conduct and outstanding unit award. Hill served as the assistant Chaplain for the Douglas County Jail and was a Deacon at Cowan Mill Baptist Church. He retired from the American Freight Systems after many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Emory Hill and Harrison W. Hill; sister, Dessie Mae Payne.
