Want to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Northwest Atlanta area? Enjoy festive food, music and family fun at Saturday's Marietta Mardi Gras 5K Run.
This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features the 4th Annual Marietta Mardi Gras 5K Run on the Marietta Square. The event benefits the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta and it's community partners. The 5K run will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., with the 1K beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the Tot-Trot at 9 a.m. For the third year, the Junior League is teaming up with Shoes for the Cure for a shoe drive. All shoe donations are welcome - not just running shoes. There will be bins for drop-off available. Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for Tot-Trot. Fat Tuesday is for celebrating and what better way to celebrate than with a Mardi Gras event with a purpose! Douglas County businesses are invited to enjoy King Cake and Mardi Gras atmosphere at the kick-off of the “Keep Calm and Shop Local” campaign on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 6 p.m., in the Courthouse Gallery, Douglas County Courthouse. This free admission event is designed to encourage one-on-one networking between business people with the purpose of supporting each other’s products and services. Shopping locally is essential to the health and welfare of Douglas County businesses.
