Kroger Customers, Associates Raise $300,000 for Muscular Dystrophy

Kroger’s Atlanta Division customers surpassed the grocer’s $275,000 fundraising goal and donated $300,000 from March 17 through 30 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division customers surpassed the grocer’s $275,000 fundraising goal and donated $300,000 from March 17 through 30 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The annual fundraiser encouraged Kroger customers to purchase $1 or $5 shamrocks to help MDA send young patients to summer camps and provide comprehensive health care, medical equipment, wheelchair repair, support services and clinics to those affected by the 43 different forms of neuromuscular diseases. Kroger-Atlanta Division has supported MDA for the last 13 years. Kroger Customers Support MDA's Shamrocks Program

Douglasville Kroger stores will spread the luck of the Irish by participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks program from now through March 30.

Atlanta Division Kroger stores, including those in Douglas County area, will spread the luck of the Irish by participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks program from now through March 30. Kroger customers and associates can show their support for MDA by purchasing and signing $1 green and $5 gold mobiles at any of the 213 stores in the Kroger Atlanta Division.  The mobiles are displayed on ceilings and walls, helping to decorate stores and create a St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere in support of the annual fundraising campaign to benefit individuals and families affected by muscle disease. “Each year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association gives more than 1 million Americans affected by muscle disease hope by funding lifesaving …

Douglasville Man Awarded $2.3 Million in Lawsuit Against Kroger

A Gwinnett County judge determined that Kroger destroyed and manipulated evidence in a fall by Craig Walters.

Douglasville resident Craig Walters, 49, received an award of $2,365,238.40 after a Gwinnett County judge determined that Kroger destroyed and manipulated evidence. A jury awarded Walters the money Jan. 27 based on an incident that happened in May 2008 while he was shopping at the Kroger grocery store on Ridge Road in Douglasville. “We are very pleased with the jury’s verdict,” Walters' lead attorney, Lloyd N. Bell, said in a news release. “Before this incident, Mr. Walters was a longtime, loyal customer of Kroger. But loyalty runs both ways, and it was only after Kroger refused to be held accountable for its negligence that Mr. Walters had to resort to a lawsuit.” According to that news release from the Bell Law Firm, Walters slipped on …
