Billy James Pruitt, 75, Dies

Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. from Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Douglasville, with Minister Mike Powers officiating.

Billy James Pruitt, 75 of Temple, passed away March 4. He was born May 21, 1937 in Fulton County to the late Edgar Buman Pruitt and Mildred Pearl Long Pruitt. He worked during his career for the Atlanta Parks and Recreation and was Baptist by faith. Survivors are his sisters: Joyce Williams, Brenda Cypress and Juanita Pruitt; brothers and sister-in-law: Bobby and Bernease Pruitt and Donald Pruitt. Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. from Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Douglasville, with Minister Mike Powers officiating. Melissa Emma Belle Daniell, 39, Dies

Melissa Emma Belle Daniell, 39 of Douglasville, passed away, Feb. 19. She was born Dec. 11, 1973 to Milton Eugene Daniell and Frances Thompson Daniell.  She worked during her career as a taxi driver and waitress. She was a member of the Lithia Springs Full Gospel Church. Survivors are her parents, Milton Eugene and Frances Thompson Daniell ; children:  Patrick Busby, Matthew Busby, Cheyanne Busby, Presten Pitts, Morgan Pitts; sister: Michelle Pope; brothers: Michael Daniell, Matthew Daniell; several nieces and nephews. Sharon Ryan, 51 of Douglasville, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17. She was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad on Feb. 13, 1962 to George Chang and Evalina Edwards. She worked for the Georgia Department of Revenue and attended The Church at Chapel Hill. Sterling Leroy Osborne, 76 of Douglasville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27. He was born Aug. 25, 1936 in Steamboat Springs, CO., to the late George Gordan Osborne and Rose Mae Hudelson Osborne. He worked during his career as a professional contractor, known for building nursing homes and other commercial construction. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of the Fairplay Community. Survivors are his beloved friends, Howell and Donna Edwards of Winston and his many friends of the Fairplay Community. Wilma L. Fountain Young, 88 of Douglasville, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 22. She was born Oct. 15, 1924 in Douglas County to the late Henry Fountain and Meddie Nation Fountain. She worked during her career as a computer technician for the insurance industry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville. In addition to her parents, Henry Fountain and Meddie Nation Fountain, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Aubrey Young; sisters: Buna Reynolds and Velma Truett and brother Marvin Fountain. Roy Lee Johnson, 78 of Winston, passed away, Sunday, Jan. 20. He was born August 3, 1934 in Gwinnett County to the late Jess Johnson and Ida Brown Johnson. He worked during his career as a security officer with Parkway Regional Hospital and for the Inner Harbor Hospital. He was Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, Jess Johnson and Ida Brown Johnson, he was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Johnson and sister, Ruth Motes. Army Vet J. D. Duren, 90, Dies

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs.

J. D. Duren, 90 of Lithia Springs, passed away Friday, Jan. 18. He was born in Douglas County on April 24, 1922 to the late Robert (Bob) Duren and the late Gladys Stovall Duren. He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Army in December of 1942 and served during World War II in Germany and France. He was discharged in December of 1945. He then entered the Georgia Tech Industrial Engineer Program. He spent his entire working career with the Simmons Bedding Company, retiring after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs where he served on the Deacon Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) Duren and Gladys Stovall Duren.
