City Salutes Heroes on July 4th

The City of Douglasville will kick off Independence Day with its annual 4th of July parade starting at 10 a.m. in downtown Douglasville. Attendees can enjoy a festival, barbecue and concessions, while being entertained at the Douglasville Idol.

The City of Douglasville will kick off Independence Day Wednesday, July 4 with its annual 4th of July parade starting at 10 a.m. in downtown Douglasville. This year’s parade theme, “Amazing American Heroes,” honors the heroic efforts demonstrated daily by branches of the U.S. Military and public service departments throughout the nation. Come enjoy the patriotic procession, or enter your organization, vehicle or float in the parade. To participate, download and complete the online parade application at www.ci.douglasville.ga.us, or contact Alice Stephens at 770-947-5920 or stephensa@ci.douglasville.ga.us to have an application mailed to you. Crowds Gather Before Fireworks Canceled

Before fireworks were canceled Monday night, crowds gathered to prepare for the patriotic display. Despite overcast skies, tailgaters commenced grilling, lounging and playing games to enjoy the evening in the Arbor Place Mall parking lot.

Bob #2, thanks for sharing about Greystone and Gas South. I think it's great when local companies give back to the community. And you know they already had the fireworks purchased and ready to go that evening. I heard they are going to reschedule them for Labor Day. Should make for a great time.   more ›
