Douglasville Unemployment Rate Rises, While County Rate Drops

The city's jobless rate reached 11 percent in February, much higher than the county rate of 8.8 percent.

Douglasville beat out Atlanta's unemployment rate, with the Douglas County seat recording an 11 percent jobless rate in Feburary. That was two-tenths of a percent better than the state capital. But the city's unemployment rate jumped almost one percent in a month, rising from 10.1 percent in January according to figures released today by the Georgia Department of Labor. And the jobless rate is just three-tenths of a percent better than a year ago. Out of the 15,487 people in the labor force, 1,701 of them were unemployed in February. Douglas County's unemployment rate was considerably better, with 8.8 percent of the workforce counted as jobless. The jobless rate dropped four-tenths of a percent from January.
