Army Vet, E. Murphy Hunter Dies

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, today from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home.

E. Murphy Hunter, age 88 of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, July 7. A native of Douglas County, he was born Aug. 24, 1923 the son of the late C. Ray Hunter and the late Mattie Ioma Camp Hunter. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. Hunter retired from Sears and he was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville. He was a member of the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289 F&AM and the Sweetwater Shrine Club. He served on the Board of Credentials and Elections at GreyStone Power Corporation. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Orr Hunter; and son, Robert Murphy Hunter.
