Citizen's Law Enforcement Graduates

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office 16th Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy graduated Thursday evening November 8th.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department 16th Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy graduated Thursday evening, Nov. 8, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Douglas County Solicitor General Matthew Krull, delivered an inspiring talk on community involvement. The Sheriff's Department congratulated all of the attendees.

Man Fakes Attack, Escapes Ambulance

Cory James Slaughter eluded capture for most of the night but was caught after a lengthy track by Lt. Michael Barnhill, of the Sheriff's K-9 Unit, and his partner Sgt. Ace.

Cory James Slaughter, 20, faked an asthma attack during a traffic stop and jumped out of an ambulance while traveling to the hospital, according to the Douglas County Sentinel. Slaughter was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, willful interference with emergency medical personnel, obstruction of law enforcement officer, possession of alcohol by a person underage and escape, according to Douglas County Sheriff's arrest records. He is being held in the Douglas County jail, no bond has been set yet. The Sentinel reported that a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy stopped Slaughter during a traffic stop near Thornton and Maxham roads at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after noticing Slaughter driving erratically, according to Maj.
