Cotton Mill Fire Under Investigation

The investigation into the cause of the fire began Tuesday, by the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department with the aid of the Metro Atlanta Arson Task Force.

The Douglas County Fire/EMS Department poured water on the fire scene Tuesday to drown out remaining hot spots and smoldering fires in the debris of the cotton mill in Douglasville that burned early Saturday morning. A track hoe was brought in to begin tearing down the remaining walls/structures so that the site would be safer for investigators to enter. The investigation into the cause of the fire began Tuesday, by the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department with the aid of the Metro Atlanta Arson Task Force. The Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional group of fire investigators who aid each other in the investigation of fire sources. This does not mean that arson is suspected.
