The "For The Birds: Athos Menaboni & More Ornithological Motifs," will be featured at Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County with an opening reception on Thursday, May 2.
The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County presents “For the Birds: Georgia’s Audubon and Other Artists Exploring Ornithological Motifs” during the months of May and June. The exhibit features 21 works by Athos Menaboni on loan from the Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University and more than 30 works from contemporary artists Pam Beagle-Daresta, Ronald Broome, Elizabeth Chapman, Helen Helwig, Lee Anne Messerschmidt and Ken Paradise. The exhibition opens on Thursday, May 2, and will be on view through June 28 at the Cultural Arts Center. The Keeley Group has developed a short survey in order to receive community input for the Arts Council’s strategic plan for Douglas County.
This year the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County was awarded a Tool Box grant from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta through its Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund in order to develop a new community-based long-term strategic plan. This funding, administered by the Georgia Center for Non-profits, supports a consultancy with Kathy Keeley of The Keeley Group who has developed a short survey in order to receive community input for the Arts Council’s strategic plan. Keeley is also conducting focus groups and interviewing community leaders during her consultancy. The Kinna Chamber Concerts series features The Lark Duo with violinist Vera Ilyushina and Lana Pogol on piano on Feb. 9, pianist Joe Chapman on March 9, and 9 String Theory on April 13.
The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County will present its annual series of chamber concerts at the Cultural Arts Center on second Saturday evenings in February, March and April 2013. The Kinna Chamber Concerts series, named in memory of Douglas County musician and artist Jeanne Kinna, features The Lark Duo with violinist Vera Ilyushina and Lana Pogol on piano on Feb. 9, pianist Joe Chapman on March 9, and 9 String Theory on April 13. Performances begin at 7 p.m. and are followed by a reception in honor of the musicians. The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is delighted to announce that the annual Chili Cook Off at O'Neal Plaza will be on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 6 until 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by John Bleakley Ford. The Cultural Arts Council’s fund-raising event is held in conjunction with the Rogue Runners Moonlight Run and following many events throughout the day in the third annual “Octoberfest” supported by the City.
