Church Organist Claudie Mae Grainger, 81, Dies
Funeral Services will be held at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville on Dec. 24 at noon with Pastor Freddie Blalock officiating.
Claudie Mae Grainger, 81 of Douglasville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22. She was born in Douglas County on May 6, 1931 to William and Mabel Regan Palmer. Claudie Mae, as she was known to friends and family, was the dedicated organist for Douglasville Second Baptist Church for 62 years. Mrs. Grainger also operated the family business, Grainger’s Florist, for 24 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank Grainger, her brothers Lenard Palmer and William David Palmer Jr. and sister Dorothy Lee Palmer. She is survived by her brother Billy Palmer, children, Anthony Grainger, Sally Payne and Teddy Heilborn; granddaughters, Tabatha Grainger and Lacey Payne. Funeral Services will be held at …
