CAC Chili Cookoff Is Saturday

One of Douglas County's favorite annual events will feature lots of entertainment and all children wearing costumes receive goody bags.

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is delighted to announce that the annual Chili Cook Off at O'Neal Plaza will be on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 6 until 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by John Bleakley Ford. The Cultural Arts Council’s fund-raising event is held in conjunction with the Rogue Runners Moonlight Run and following many events throughout the day in the third annual “Octoberfest” supported by the City. Last year more than 4,000 people joined in this festive evening of good food and family fun as many local Douglasville celebrities including the Mayor, County Commission Chair Tom Worthan, political candidates, local bankers and many business leaders presented the community with different flavors of chili to savor…

What a great night this was. Really enjoyed all the chili - really alot of great cooks! And my kids loved all the cookies and baked goods from the 4-H booth! My wife and I just enjoyed the gathering, in general. Chili Cook Off Winners Announced

The 15th annual competition was held this past weekend in downtown Douglasville.

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County announced the winners of the 15th annual Chili Cook Off held on O’Neal Plaza in historic Downtown Douglasville last Saturday. The fundraiser was attended by 3,000 participants, matching last year’s record-breaking attendance. The event was held in conjunction with the Rogue Runners Moonlight Run and followed many community events throughout the day in the second annual Octoberfest supported by the city. The Chili Cook Off featured a performance by a popular bluegrass band, Nancy Creek.  The celebrity judges—Ronnie Ackerman, Jerry Frost, Josh Gipson, Bob Smith and Michael Tuttle—deliberated with great care while judging which of the 25 chili cookers would be awarded the coveted “Best …
