The Keeley Group has developed a short survey in order to receive community input for the Arts Council’s strategic plan for Douglas County.
This year the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County was awarded a Tool Box grant from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta through its Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund in order to develop a new community-based long-term strategic plan. This funding, administered by the Georgia Center for Non-profits, supports a consultancy with Kathy Keeley of The Keeley Group who has developed a short survey in order to receive community input for the Arts Council’s strategic plan. Keeley is also conducting focus groups and interviewing community leaders during her consultancy. Presented in partnership with the Douglas County Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association,The Mad Hatter's Tea Party offers educational fun in a children’s festival from 10:30 a.m. until Noon. As part of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County Fall concerts on O'Neal Plaza, rocker and roller Paris Luna rocked the stage last Saturday. Paris Luna has shared the stage with top name acts like Zac Brown, Rusted Root, Chris Gibbs from Modern English and Devon Allman. The band members are Michael Harris (guitarist), Kane Russell (drummer), Toby Marriott (The Strays) and Heather Russell (vocalist, pianist, acoustic guitarist and songwriter), known as Paris Luna. The award was presented on Aug. 1, at the annual Fine Arts Teachers Appreciation Breakfast/pre-term meeting of all Douglas County School System fine arts teachers (visual arts, choral, band and drama). The Cultural Arts Center will feature the works of local artists during the month of May.
The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County presents recent works-drawings, paintings, photographs, stained glass, turned wood, jewelry, and even decorated gourds-by members of the Douglas County Art Guild in its May exhibition at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Douglasville. The pieces on display represent the diverse achievements of many local artists whose explorations of contemporary aesthetic directions present a wide range of artistic perspectives. The exhibition will be on view through May 31. An acrylic painting by Ken Paradise, Sax in the Park, is one example of the array of works put on display by this talented group.
