On Dec. 28, 2012, a theft was reported at the McDonald’s on Hwy 61 in Villa Rica. It was discovered that a male suspect had forced open the drive thru window and removed money from the cash register while the employee was away from the window. On March 7, Detective Bertera received a tip in reference to the incident. During his investigation he was able to identify the suspect as Kurtis Allen Merritt, 26 years old, from Douglasville. Detective Bertera obtained an arrest warrant for Merritt and was able to locate him in a motel near Six Flags. Merritt was taken into custody and charged with burglary. It was discovered that Merritt had been staying in Michigan and had just returned to Georgia. He is currently being held at the Carroll Co …

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office/Douglasville Police Department Major Case Unit arrested 20-year-old Douglasville resident Brentrez McPherson Tuesday after investigating a series of burglaries that were occurring around the Pope and Fairburn Road area, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. This series of burglaries was considered especially concerning because the burglaries were occurring at night when the residents were at home asleep (Cat Burglar). The incidents started occurring in the Chestnut Hills Subdivision June 1 when a black male was observed exposing himself outside of a resident's sliding glass door. Tycarious Harper, 17, was charged with willful obstruction and hindering of law enforcement Wednesday and released on $1,000 bond. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Facebook page, the office received a report of a forced entry burglary on May 12 at 1884 Blanch Dr. The responding deputies canvassed the neighborhood and were able to identify two suspects through witness statements. On May 16 the case was assigned to Investigator Gray in the Criminal Investigations Division. Through evidence at the scene, witness statements and a thorough an investigation, the two suspects were arrested in connection with case on Wednesday.
