Moms Tackle Kids' Birthdays

Should you go for broke or keep it simple?

“Especially in this tough economy, birthday parties can be very expensive.  How do you celebrate your kids’ birthdays?  Do you “go big” or do you "keep it simple?”  Lisa Faircloth, Douglasville mom to a boy (7) and girl (3) Most the time we just have a nice meal or outing with our family and give the honorable one a couple of gifts. We take the other couple hundred bucks we may have spent on a big party and put it in the birthday kid's savings. We will probably start doing outings and allowing Joey to invite one friend for a day of fun and spend the night now that he is getting older. Heather Beachy, Douglasville mom of two girls, ages 3 and 4 Young kids' birthday parties are just like one big play date so we stick with parties at our home…

My children are grown, but our daughter has a 5 yr old son. We have a pool party every year for him at our home. Grill hotdogs , with chips and drinks. Always have a great time and the kids and parents love swimming in August.   more ›
