Bill 'Pop' Butler, 94, Dies

Funeral Services will be conducted from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville on Monday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dexter Landers and Reverend Johnny White officiating.

Bill “Pop” Butler,  94 of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29. He was born on Oct. 5, 1918 in Randolph County, AL., to the late Hosea Butler and the late Mattie Palmer Butler. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1957 and served as a deacon for more than 50 years. He was in civil service having retired from Atlanta Army Depot after nearly 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Butler; son-in-law, Terry G. McKenney; six sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Syble Lucille Easterwood Butler; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Bowman of Douglasville;  daughter, Bronnie McKenney of Whitesburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Teresa Butler of Douglasville …
