Adopt a Pet for Christmas

The Douglas County Animal Shelter is open on Christmas Eve.

The Douglas County Animal Shelter will be open for pet adoptions on Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. for choosing unconditional love as a Christmas gift. There are many kittens, cats, puppies and dogs available for adoption at the Shelter, located at 1755 County Services Boulevard off Cedar Mountain Road adjacent to the Landfill. Photographs and descriptions of available pets can be found by visiting the Douglas County web site at www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com and then clicking on Departments and Animal Control. The adoption fee for all dogs and cats is $35 cash or check. By Pat Hopper Paul has a gorgeous gray and silver coat with white designs and the short thick coat is as soft as velvet to the touch. His sparkling gold eyes have the plea of take me home now in them. He is a super sweet, active, and loving boy who is ready to dart out the cage once the door opens. By Pat Hopper Peter and Alex are both Blue Russian males with coats of velvet. These Russian Blue's are brothers. Faith Hill is a super friendly and loving solid black American Bombay with sky blue eyes saying take me home please. She is the most cuddly girl that pleads with her eyes for you not to put her back in the cage. She is friends with Peter and Alex. By Pat Hopper Daisy is a female gray and silver Tabby with big gold eyes. Jasmine is a female brown and black Maine Coon X. Rosie is a female solid black American Bombay with sparkling gold eyes. All three were turned into the shelter on Aug. 2 in a trap, as the person feeding them in a trailer park could no longer feed and take care of them. They did not understand why they were placed in a steel cage. They can see outside but can't go out there. They have adjusted because they had no choice. They are very sweet, enjoying any stroking or attention given them. They have received the FVRCP during the intake process.
