The deadline to register to vote for the general election is Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. Voters can register in person at the Douglas County Courthouse or by visiting the Secretary of State's website.

Four Republicans so far have entered the race to fill the withdrawn candidacy of Bill Hamrick. Qualifying for the Republican special primary election and a Jan. 8 special election to select the next senator ends Friday.
