The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was honored Saturday for being the top agency, collecting the most prescription drugs in a Dakota Dyer drop box.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department was one of the honorees at Saturday’s 1st Annual Dakota Dyer/Waffle House Waffle Eating Contest. Investigator Cindy West was present to receive the 1st Annual Warrior Award on behalf of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. The DCSO was honored with an award for being the agency that collected the most prescription drugs in a Dakota Dyer drop box. The drop box is located in the Sheriff's Department lobby and is available to all Douglas County residents for disposing of prescription and illegal drugs anonymously. Octavia Adrienne Avey, 36 of Marietta, was arrested on May 18 and charged with forgery.

The Villa Rica Police Department was notified of a person trying to cash a forged check at Region’s Bank on May 18, according to a report from the Villa Rica Police Department. As Officer Jacob Brown arrived, the bank employees identified the person as she was trying to leave the bank. Officer Brown stopped the person and detained her as the incident was being investigated. The check was confirmed as being forged and the person trying to cash it was arrested, according to the report. The person was identified as Octavia Adrienne Avey, 36 of Marietta. She was charged with forgery in the third degree and taken to the Carroll County Jail.
