Air Force Vet Edward Eugene 'Gene' Arnold, 77, Dies

Edward Eugene “Gene” Arnold, 77 of Douglasville, passed away, Sunday, May 5. He was born Aug. 15, 1935 in Atlanta, to the late Paul Eugene Arnold and Mary McLendon Arnold. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, graduated from the John Marshall University, was a Police Officer of East Point 1962-1965 and retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1991 after a career of 26 years. In addition to his parents, Paul Eugene Arnold and Mary McLendon Arnold, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Paul Arnold and Robert Arnold and son, Kipp Arnold. Bill Allen, 77 of Atlanta, passed away Sunday, May 5. He was born Jan. 29, 1936 in Atlanta, son of the late Roy and Dorothy Barber Allen, Sr.  Mr. Allen served his country in the U.S. Army and the Georgia National Guard, was retired from AT&T with 30 years of service and was a member of the Christian Baptist Church in Cleveland, GA. John "Rusty" Hart, 41 of Douglasville, passed away Sunday, May 5. He was born on Jan. 26, 1972 in Knoxville, TN., to Gary and Vickie Moore Hart. He was a licensed land surveyor and worked for Arcadis. Rusty was a member of the Douglasville Church of Christ. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served four years in the Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Tish Hood Hart; children, Bailey Hart, Reece Hart and step-son, Zachery Harper; sister, Misty D. Calvin Elton “Bebo” Wester, 88 of Lithia Springs passed away on Friday, May 3, at Wellstar Community Hospice/Tranquility in Austell. Mr. Wester was born to James Franklin Wester and Sarah Clem Jones Wester in Dekalb County, Alabama on October 15, 1924. He was the youngest of eight children. Mr. Wester was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII who retired from Austell Box Board in 1989 after 40 years of dedicated service. Mr. Wester was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by his family. He is preceded in death by his wife from 1943 - 1971, Martha A. Wester; wife from 1973 - 2013, Odell E. Teresa Ann Conway, 60, of Decatur and formerly of Douglasville, passed away Friday, May 3. She was born December 6, 1952 in Birmingham, AL., daughter of the late Edward and Alice Egan. Teresa was an RN and worked at Northside Hospital in the Pacemaker Clinic. Her passion was Scrabble, she loved animals and had always owned a dog.  She had three ‘Sashas.’ Teresa was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Divine Mercy Apostolate. Doris Elizabeth Yancey,  74 of Douglasville, passed away Friday, May 3. She was born June 30, 1938 in Commerce, GA., daughter of the late Hoyt and Delree Bellamy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Yancey. Mrs. Yancey was truly a homemaker – she dearly loved her family, enjoyed cooking and sewing. She did exquisite needlework and quilting.  She earned her Associate degree, graduating from Southern Business University in Atlanta, and was a member of Water of Life Christian Center. Tommie Lee Lewis of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, May 1. He was born Sept. 8, 1948 in Sardis, Mississippi, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lewis, and was raised in Oxford, MI. He joined Tobby Tubby Mb Church at an early age where he remained faithful until he moved to Detroit. He was employed by Hayball Trucking Company for more than 20 years. He owned Tommie Lewis Trucking for 13 years. He retired in 2011 and moved to Douglasville. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. & Mrs. Tom C. Lewis and sister, Mrs. Vera McEwen. Frances Waddell Randles, 82 of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, April 30, at Tanner Medical Center. She was born Nov. 28, 1930 in Haralson County, to the late John William Waddell and Beulah White Waddell, the youngest of fourteen children. She and her husband, the late MSgt. Teddy R.
