The Day Star Tabernacle of the Bright Star Church is a large church located in the southern part of Douglasville. As a matter of fact, it was a growing congregation that brought the church here from Carroll County in 1995. Led by Apostle H. L. Horton, the church has much to offer the community, including a worship service and School of the Scriptures on Sunday mornings and a Wednesday night Bible study. During the week, the church offers full-time daycare for children ages six weeks to four years.  The friendly staff wants to make sure everyone in the community knows they are welcome to attend anytime.

Black pastors group launches anti-Obama campaign around gay marriage By Dan Merica, CNN At the pressRead More conference, Owens was joined by five other black regional pastors and said there were 3,742 African-American pastors on board for the anti-Obama campaign. 250 Ministers Proclamation As Christian clergy we proclaim the Good News concerning Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) persons and publicly apologize where we have been silent. As disciples of Jesus, who assures us that the truth sets us free, we recognize that the debate is over. The verdict is in. Homosexuality is not a sickness, not a choice, and not a sin. We find no rational biblical or theological basis to condemn or deny the rights of any person based on sexual orientation. Silence by many has allowed political and religious rhetoric to monopolize public perception, creating the impression that there is only one Christian perspective on this issue. Yet we recognize and celebrate that we are far from alone, as Christians, in affirming that LGBT persons are distinctive, holy, and precious gifts to all who struggle to become the family of God. In repentance and obedience to the Holy Spirit, we stand in solidarity as those who are committed to work and pray for full acceptance and inclusion of LGBT persons in our churches and in our world. We lament that LGBT persons are condemned and excluded by individuals and institutions, political and religious, who claim to be speaking the truth of Christian teaching. This leads directly and indirectly to intolerance, discrimination, suffering, and even death. The Holy Spirit compels us: -to affirm that the essence of Christian life is not focused on sexual orientation, but how one lives by grace in relationship with God, with compassion toward humanity; –to embrace the full inclusion of our LGBT brothers and sisters in all areas of church life, including leadership; –to declare that the violence must stop. Christ’s love moves us to work for the healing of wounded souls who are victims of abuse often propagated in the name of Christ; –to celebrate the prophetic witness of all people who have refused to let the voice of intolerance and violence speak for Christianity, especially LGBT persons, who have met hatred with love; Therefore we call for an end to all religious and civil discrimination against any person based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. All laws must include and protect the freedoms, rights, and equal legal standing of all persons, in and outside the church. September 25, 2012 at 10:41 am | Report abuse | Reply

Cathy What a simple MESS! Everybody knows what Jesus would do yet the country is filled with so muchRead More HATE! The Harvest is Plenty but the Labor's are few....Pastor, you have not arrived! This blog proves that. For years before President Obama was thought of are conceived your Churches was okay with gay piano players. You never marched to condon this behavior you welcome the soulful music. What is the problem with President Obama voicing hi opinion after being asked the question. You can not control his answer no more than you should come out from behind that pulpit and save those very souls right next door to your church on a Sunday morning selling drugs, washing cars, drinking liquor and cursing. You people scare me to death. If you knew your real history you would have never come out nationally wearing your religion openly and embarrassing for the "World" to see. Yes, those lost soul's whom you are call demonic! Why aren't you and those "Pastor Supporters" out saving these ungodly heathens you call sinners. Did you really think black americans would follow you. The "Blood" is against you. How can you stand before God and denounce the very ones you claim God called you to save. President Obama baby fingernail have more LOVE for God People than you so call Christans could ever project. I have been saved for 30 plus years and I have never been so disgusted in the so call Body of Christ as I have these past 4 years. President Obama "God Has Spoken" let the Church say AMEN! This is a cult that last from 1030 am to 3pm. I know that I can go to work and be productive forRead More eight hours. However to sit in a church this long is not necessary. The Lord knows what we need ---it doesn't take anyone grandstanding for this many hours -all this pastor do is criticize other humans who are God's children too! He need to stop and take a step back and realize someone will correct him very soon
