The Douglas County Planning and Zoning Department is located on the first floor of the Douglas County Courthouse and is responsible for planning the growth of the community through several different programs, including the sign ordinance, zoning laws, developmental standards, watershed protection laws, code enforcement and transportation planning. Watershed protection is meant to protect the primary drinking water source in Douglas County, the Dog River Basin and Dog River Reservoir. Amy Brumelow is the current department director.
