The approximately 430 students who attend Dorsett Shoals Elementary School get the opportunity to explore the subjects of math, reading and writing in creative ways.  Children can earn a fist-full of Dorsett Dollars by scoring math points and then spending the fruits of their labor in the math store, named the Panther Palace.  Writer's Workshop and Accelerated Reading Program are also offered.  Students can write for their own newspaper, The Paw, or participate in other activities like the art club, chorus, 4-H, flag patrol, the sky skippers, the safety patrol or the road runners.  Kacia Thompson is currently the principal.
