The organization will be on site at GreyStone’s Annual Meeting of Members Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. collecting needed items for its annual Christmas for the Troops project.

“Each year the cooperative invites Soldiers’ Angels to the Annual Meeting, encouraging members to join in our effort of giving back to troops serving our country,” said GreyStone President/CEO Gary Miller.

Items needed include individually-wrapped toothbrushes, lip balm, and travel-sized hygiene items such as shampoo, body wash, lotion and hand sanitizer. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Items and donations will contribute to holiday stockings assembled specifically for Georgia troops based out of military posts throughout the state.

Also needed are signed Christmas cards, particularly those made by children. Cards will be available for signing at the Annual Meeting as well. A small selection of Soldiers' Angels merchandise (T-shirts, pins, magnets, etc.) will be for sale. All proceeds will benefit the 2011 Soldiers' Angels Christmas for the Troops project.

Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-based non-profit organization supporting American service representatives and their families. Through their mission to provide aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States military, Soldiers’ Angels has grown to be one of the most recognizable services supporting American soldiers abroad. Inspired by a mother’s dedication to make sure that “no soldier goes unloved,” Soldiers’ Angels took flight in 2003 and within months of its inception the program had grown into a community of 200,000 supporting angels worldwide. Today, the organization provides assistance to tens of thousands of American soldiers overseas.
