Spring into This Recycling Event

Keep Douglasville Beautiful's Spring Recycling Event will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

Keep Douglasville Beautiful’s Spring Recycling Event will be held on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the .

During this event, KDB is also supporting Anna Harrison, a girl scout who is trying to earn her Gold award. She needs to collect 1,000 to 2,000 two-litter bottles to build a greenhouse that will be located at a local school in Douglasville. She is planning to start construction in June and be finished by August.  

"This is a great project," Chan Weeks said executive director of Keep Douglasville Beautiful. "We are happy to help Anna by collecting empty two-litter bottles at our recycling event on April 14.

In addition to the two-liter bottles Anna needs, Keep Douglasville Beautiful and the in partnership with NW GA Recycling, Aeris Services and the Douglas County Lions Club will accept the following items and more for free:

Computers, Laptops, Stereos, Radios, Home Audio, Speakers, Printers, Scanners, Fax Machines, Copiers, CRT/LCD  Monitors, VCR/DVD Players, Cable TV Boxes, Cell Phones, Pagers, PDAs, LCD/plasma TVs, Hair Dryers, Curling Irons, Vacuum Cleaners, Game Systems - Nintendo, Sega, Xbox, etc., Large and Small Appliances, Air Conditioners, Lawn Mowers, Weed Eaters, Lawn Tools, Exercise Equipment - Treadmills, Ellipticals, etc., Metal Furniture, Wiring, Cables, Electrical Cords, Christmas Lights, Metal Coat Hangers, Engines and Transmissions, Old Car Parts, Lead Acid Batteries (automotive type), Alkaline Batteries - AA, AAA, C, D, etc. Household Fixtures - faucets, electrical switches, etc.,  Scrap Metal, Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, practically anything with metal content or that has a cord or uses batteries.

Tube and projection televisions will be accepted for a $1 fee for each set.

By recycling these items, you also keep lead, mercury and other harmful materials out of our landfills.
