Sorority Collecting Canned Food

Donations will be accepted from now through Feb. 25, at noon.

The Sigma Omega Omega (SOO) Annual Canned Food Drive has begun. Please bring all donations to the Alice Hawthorne Center at Jesse Davis Park. Sigma Omega Omega’s partner, the Warehouse of Hope (WOH), will receive your donations and will distribute them to needy families in Douglas County. The WOH is located at 100 Hunter Rd. and its mission is to feed and clothe our neighbors who are in need.

SOO requests that Douglas County families consider donating at least five can goods to this worthy cause. Local grocery stores in the position to provide significant donations are asked to contact Odette Simmons, SOO’s Global Poverty Chairman at odette.simmons@hotmail.com. Donations will be accepted from now through Feb. 25, at noon.

Sigma Omega Omega is a local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the first African American sorority established for college educated women in 1908. In 1990, SOO was charted in Douglasville and has been serving the Douglas County community since that time. For more information about SOO’s programs and activities, please visit our website at: www.sigmaomegaomega.com.
