WGTC's Walthall Named GCAA Player of Week

West Georgia Technical College's Kelsey Walthall has been named the Region 17 Player of the Week.

West Georgia Tech’s Kelsey Walthall (Pepplebrook High School) has been named Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association / Region 17 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Walthall averaged 18 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game in two games last week, both wins over the junior varsity squad from Faulkner University.

The sophomore guard is second on the team in both scoring (12.4 points per game) and rebounding (6.3 points per game).

“Kelsey has come in and given us much-needed experience and leadership,” said WGTC head coach Kenny Edwards. “She has been asked to play all five positions on the floor and she receives the opposition’s best defender every night.”

Walthall’s efforts helped lead WGTC to a 4-3 start. West Georgia Tech has won four of its last five games.

The Golden Knights will next be in action on Saturday, with a road matchup at Snead State in Boaz, AL.
