WGTC's Walthall Named Conference Player of Week for School-Record 4th Time

West Georgia Tech's Kesley Walthall has been named Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association – Region 17 D-III Women's Basketball Player of the Week for a school-record fourth time.

The sophomore guard from Pebblebrook High School in Atlanta averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game in a pair of wins last week over Prince George’s (Md.) Community College (77-46) and NJCAA D-I member Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College (88-75).

Walthall also averaged four assists and three steals in last week’s action.

Walthall is second on the team in overall scoring, with 13.5 points per game.

“Kelsey actually played all five positions at some point in those two games last week because we had some starters out,” said WGTC head coach Kenny Edwards. “She really competed at a high level against good competition.”

West Georgia Tech (14-7) has won six-consecutive games and has a 9-6 record against Division I junior colleges.

The Golden Knights won’t return to the hardwood until February 8 when they host conference rival Georgia Northwestern at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton. Tip-time is 2 p.m.
