WGTC's Howard Named GCAA Conference Player of Week

Kadriana Howard's efforts have helped West Georgia Tech to a 5-3 overall record so far on the season with three of those victories coming against Division I junior college programs.

For a second-consecutive week a West Georgia Tech player was named GCAA / Region 17 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Kadriana Howard, a 5-7 guard from Sycamore, Ga. earned the honor this week following a 16-point, four-rebound performance last Saturday in a 68-63 win over Snead State (AL.), a NJCAA D-I program.

Howard leads the Golden Knights in scoring, with 14.8 points per game. She also leads the team in field goal percentage (45.2 percent), steals (4.8 per game) and minutes played (30.1 per game).

“Kadriana has played consistent and has been a key player for us in our recent stretch of wins,” WGTC head women’s basketball coach Kenny Edwards said. “She has been asked to play four different positions on the floor, and defensively we have so much confidence in her that we generally put her on the other team’s best offensive player. She has been a big-time addition to our team.”

West Georgia Tech is off for the Thanksgiving break and will resume action next Monday, at home against the junior varsity from Truett McConnell College. Tip-time is 6 p.m. at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton.
