WGTC Women Extend Winning Streak to 6 Games, Beat Chatt Valley 88-75

The West Georgia Tech women's basketball team won its sixth-straight game Saturday afternoon, 88-75 over Chattahoochee Valley (AL.) Community College.

West Georgia Tech improved to 14-7 overall on the season and is now 9-6 against NJCAA Division I competition.

CVCC fell to 10-5 on the year.

Kelsey Walthall led four Golden Knights in double-figures with a 20-point afternoon. She shot 6-of-13 from the field while dishing out five assists.

Jasmine N. Williams added 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Kadriana Howard scored 12 points and Kierra Smith added 11 points and eight rebounds for West Georgia Tech.

West Georgia Tech jumped out to an early 13-4 lead at the 13:55-mark and held a 10-point advantage with 7:43 to play in the half, at 28-18.

CVCC went on a 12-4 run over the next five minutes to close to within two, at 30-28.

West Georgia Tech led 38-35 at halftime.

The Golden Knights had a strong start to the second half as they stretched their lead to ten points at the 13:27-mark, 55-45.

Chattahoochee Valley would get no closer than that, with West Georgia Tech leading by as many as 17 late in the ballgame.

The Golden Knights shot 51.4 percent from the field (37-of-72) while holding CVCC to just 39.7-percent shooting (25-of-63).

WGTC was 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The Golden Knights outrebounded Chattahoochee Valley 47-37.

West Georgia Tech will not play again until February 8 when they enter the season’s homestretch by hosting Region 17 rival Georgia Northwestern.

West Georgia Tech will honor its three-person sophomore class at that ballgame, which is slated to begin at 2 p.m., at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton.
