WGTC Player Named GCAA - Region 17 Player of Week

Douglasville native and West Georgia Tech point guard Devante Orebeau has been named Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association – Region 17 Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The Douglasville native averaged 15 points, 7 assists and 3.5 steals in a pair of games last week.

Orebeau is second on the team in scoring overall, averaging 11.9 points per contest. He leads the team in assists, with 5.4 per game.

Orebeau is the first West Georgia Tech player to win conference player of the week honors this season.

“Devante is a quality student and basketball player, and deserves recognition for his hard work and commitment to both. This award is just the beginning of the accolades he'll get this year and beyond,” said WGTC head coach Niki Okolovitch.

The Golden Knights are 6-13 overall and 1-0 in conference play against a schedule comprised mostly of NJCAA D-I schools and four-year programs.

WGTC returns to action on Saturday with a conference road tilt at Georgia Northwestern. Tip-time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Rossville.
