Transfer Orlandis Hill (Villa Rica High School, Alcorn State University, and Snead State) is expected to step in immediately. He was recently named to the GCAA/Region 17 Preseason All-Region Team.

West Georgia Tech was picked to finish in the top spot in the preseason coaches poll, ahead of Oxford College.

West Georgia Tech has won the last two Region Tournament Championships, which moved them on to the District 7 Semifinals both years. Last year WGTC was one win away from a coveted trip to New York for the National Finals.

“This year we have upgraded our shooting at every position,” said WGTC head coach Niki Okolovitch. We lack some of the athleticism and ability to get out with the ball that our previous teams have had, so we’ll be much more of a half court team this year than we have been. But our ability to play five guys that can all hit the three is really going to open the floor up for us and spread defenses out.”

The Golden Knights will continue its season-opening road swing next Tuesday at Southern Union in Wadley, AL.

West Georgia Tech’s home opener is next Wednesday, against the Martinique National Team at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton.
