West Georgia Tech’s Kelsey Walthall has been named Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association – Region 17 Player of the Week.
This is the third time this season that the sophomore guard from Pebblebrook High School in Atlanta has earned conference player of the week honors.
Walthall averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals per game last week versus a pair of NJCAA Division I teams in Snead State and Southern Union, helping WGTC win both games.
“Kelsey played big in those two wins last week,” said West Georgia Tech women’s basketball head coach Kenny Edwards. “She was asked to guard both teams’ best player and held them to less than 15 points combined. She is a versatile player for us, having played every position on the floor at some point.”
West Georgia Tech, at 12-7 on the year, is off to the best start in program history.
The Golden Knights are back in action next Tuesday when they will entertain Prince George’s Community College out of Maryland in a game that will be played at Oxford College in Oxford, GA.
