Local Tryouts for Douglas-based Team

The Douglas County River Dogs football team began looking for players in late October. Tryouts continue this weekend.

Men looking for a chance to suit up and return to the gridiron may want to consider a team holding tryouts in Paulding.

The Douglas County River Dogs held its first tryouts Oct. 29 and 30 in Hiram and will hold more tryout sessions Nov. 12 and 13, with each day’s proceedings starting at 11 a.m. Those ultimately selected for the team will have the chance to make an impact when the 2012 season opens March 6.

The team is a member of the National Developmental Football League, an NFL-rules league aimed at being a platform for players looking to advance their skills to the next level, whether it be for college, arena or the NFL.

Tryouts are being held at the , 172 Shipp Circle, Hiram (between Hiram Sudie and Nebo Roads). There is a $50 registration fee, which includes a physical, T-shirt and meal.
