Golf Tourney Benefits Douglas Students

The Rho Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. presents the 2nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament benefitting students in Douglas, Carroll and Paulding Counties. This Chapter has served the Douglas, Carroll and Paulding County area for the last five years and have awarded more than $3,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds for our scholarships which are awarded to graduating African-American males that will be attending any university, college or technical school. The Chapter has an essay contest that stems from local issues to issues of the world. Our essays have ranged from the topic of teen bullying to awareness of our nations economic downfall. Students receive their scholarship during their spring Senior Honors Night at their respective school.

Our 2nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on May 18, in Douglasville at West Pines Golf Club (11:30 a.m. registration/lunch with a 1 p.m. shotgun start). The two-person scramble entry fee is $80 per golfer and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams as well as other on course competitions.
