Chapel Hill Boys Fifth in State

Both Panther cross-country teams and both Alexander teams make the top 20 in the AAAA state meet.

Chance Eldredge finished seventh in the AAAA state cross-country meet Saturday in Carrollton to lead the boys to fifth place overall.

Eldredge ran the 5K course in 16:35.91, about 30 seconds slower than state champion Brad Hort of McIntosh.

Also scoring for the Panthers were Cameron Lord in 32nd, Paul McCloud in 36th, David Lueck in 44th and Jelani Omari in 89th.

Meanwhile, finished 14th in the team competition. Chad Starnes came in 60th, backed by Broc DuCharme in 66th, Michael Scasny in 81st, Trey Gray in 93rd and Miringu Kiarie in 108th.

On the girls side, Chapel Hill finished 13th, and Alexander placed 16th.

Chapel Hill’s Ashton Lord was the top Douglas County runner, finishing seventh in 19:43.85. Also scoring for the Lady Panthers were Gina Melilli in 41st, Hope Kimberly in 45th, Kaniesha Mixon in 122nd and Avery Raines in 125th.

For Alexander, which finished 16th among the girls, Chloe Camp in 60th, Amber Jent in 68th, Anna Scasny in 72nd, Brittany Truitt in 129th and Anna Shadinger in 146th made scoring runs.
