Alexander Hoping to Clinch Playoff Berth
Here's what's happening in high school athletics in Douglasville Patch on April 26.
The high school baseball season is down to its final week, and somehow Region 5-AAAA remains a mystery. Not one of the of the 14 teams in the region has officially clinched a playoff spot.
However, that could change today for Alexander. At 8-3 in region play, the Cougars are tied with Kell and South Paulding for second place in the region; at 9-2, Pope is a game up on all three teams.
An Alexander win Tuesday over Hiram, combined with a loss by fifth-place North Paulding, would officially put the Cougars in the playoffs.

However, if Alexander loses, the Cougars could drop as low as fifth in the standings, which isn't a great place to be when only the top four teams make the playoffs.
The first pitch from Alexander is at 5:55 p.m.
