School Closings Will Give Douglas County Students a Long Break

The school district says Thursday, Feb. 13, through Monday, Feb. 17, are scheduled holidays.

Updated, 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11: Douglas County student will end up with a long February break, according to the county school system.

The system send out an alert Tuesday morning that Wednesday classes have been closed due to the weather.

Included in the statement:

"In addition, Thursday, February 13 through Monday, February 17 are regularly scheduled holidays for students and staff. Decisions about extracurricular activities during the holidays will be made on a day to day basis."

Douglas County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 11, the system posted on its website.

Cherokee, Bartow, Paulding and Cobb have also cancelled class, as area school systems prepare for the winter storm that will bring ice and snow and make traveling treacherous.

All Douglas County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, February 11.Β All Tuesday activities are cancelled.Β 240 staff report as conditions allow. Monday evening activities that begin after 8 p.m. are also cancelled. A decision for Wednesday has not been made at this time.
