STAR Students, Teachers Announced

The students will be recognized on March 5 at the Rotary Club luncheon.

The Douglas County School System announced each high school's Star Student and the teacher each student has selected as Star Teacher. The students will be recognized on March 5 at the Rotary Club luncheon.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Program recognizes high-performing high school seniors across Georgia and the teachers they select as having been the most influential and instrumental in their academic careers. In more than five decades, the STAR Program has honored more than 22,000 high school seniors and the teachers they selected to share in their recognition. Since 1994, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation Inc. has coordinated the state STAR program along with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education.

The Star Student program is recognized locally throughout the state by designated civic clubs. For more information on the overall Star Student program, visit the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation.

"Both Amy Wang and Casey Hall are great people," Douglas County High School Tim Scott said. "Both are very well liked by their peers. Amy is really a model student and a great young lady. Casey is just as well liked. She relates very well to students and staff.

"Both are kind people and will be very successful and have both already been very successful already in their own rights," he said. "They each have an incredible work ethic. I'm very proud of both of them."

"We are certainly proud of these young people and know they represent their respective schools well as they excel academically and in character," Dr. Gordon Pritz said in a press release.
