Scholarships of $2,500 were given to seniors at each high school in Douglas County by the Tributary Sports Club on Saturday. Β The $10,000 was raised through the club's Raegan Hearn Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. Teeing off at noon, there were 112 golfers who then enjoyed a BBQ buffet dinner afterward, while the scholarship presentations were being made.

The four recipients were David Shadix (), Rachel Sword (), Griffin Knotts () and Carson Woodall (Lithia Springs High School). Past recipients Preston Cobb (Douglas County High School - Georgia Tech), Ibitola Adesuyi (Chapel Hill High School – Emory University) and Shelly Ash (Lithia Springs - Georgia Southern) also attended and each expressed how the scholarship awards had enabled them to be more successful at school.

Five Years ago, Tournament Director Eric Alexander had the idea of putting a golf tournament together for the residents of Tributary at New Manchester. Eric got 48 Tributary residents together for a golf outing and they enjoyed it so much, they decided to make it into an annual event. Eric again had the idea of making it into a fund-raising event for some good cause. After brainstorming different ideas, a decision was made to give scholarships to deserving high school seniors in Douglas County.

In the last four years the Sports Club has given more than $30,000 dollars to seniors at the four high schools in Douglas County. Recipients, who will attend college in Georgia, are chosen from applications they submit to the Sports Club. The scholarship committee then makes the decision based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, civic and community activities, and financial need.

The tournament is named after and held in the memory of Raegan Hearn, daughter of Don and Angie Hearn who are residents of Tributary at New Manchester. Raegan was a wonderful little girl about to turn one when an accident took her life. She was already known as a tenacious and spunky little girl.
