School Food Managers Earn Awards

Cathy York and Tina Dix recently received certificates of achievement from Fuel Up to Play 60 for their efforts during the 2011-2012 school year.

Congratulations to Food Service Managers Cathy York, , and Tina Dix, , who recently received a Certificate of Achievement from Fuel Up to Play 60 for their efforts during the 2011-2012 school year. We congratulate these ladies for being wellness leaders and for their commitment to student health.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a unique private/public partnership that shares the ambitious and attainable goals outlined in First Lady Michelle Obama's childhood obesity platform, "Let's Move!." The nutrition and physical activity program was launched by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the USDA, and now involves more than 70,000 schools.

The program is committed to addressing the real-world needs in today's schools with wellness tools that complement - not compete with - an academics-focused environment. The program's design allows youth and schools to determine which tools and resources best empower each school to meet its own wellness goals. Fuel Up to Play 60 is also recognized as a strategy for helping schools earn USDA's HealthierUS School Challenge award.
